But for the fine performances by Bharat and Mallika Kapoor, we'd have little hesitation in dismissing Azhagai Irukkirai
Bhayamai Irukkiradu as another worthless Tamil movie.
It's the passionate performances of these two youngsters that rescues Azhagai Irukkirai Bhayamai Irukkiradu from the scrapheap.
Though Azhagai Irukkirai Bhayamai Irukkiradu's story is not much to write home about, Bharat and Mallika Kapoor are a delight to watch.
Marking cameraman Vijay Milton's debut as a director, Azhagai Irukkirai Bhayamai Irukkiradu is a teenage love story with a few unusual twists.
Mano (Bharat) comes too Chennai from Ooty in search of the girl he loves. In Chennai, he meets Jothi Lakshmi a.k.a Jo
(Mallika Kapoor), who's head over heels in love with Prem (Arun Kumar), a cricket player and businessman.
But Prem is in love with TV newsreader Nandini (Deepu), the girl Mano is besotted with. Mano and Jo plot to separate Prem and Nandini so that they can then be with their loved ones.
Much to their chagrin, however, all their nefarious tricks to separate Prem and Nandini come a cropper.
Fate seems to be working in their favor when finally Prem and Nandini go their separate ways. Just when you thought all would
now go well for the young love birds, director Vijay Milton springs another surprise.
Mercifully, Azhagai Irukkirai Bhayamai Irukkiradu spares the audience the usual all's well that ends well happy ending that
makes a mockery of most Indian films.
In a novelty, Vijay Milton has deftly used cartoons and captions in Azhagai Irukkirai Bhayamai Irukkiradu and integrated them
well with the movie.
One big letdown in Azhagai Irukkirai Bhayamai Irukkiradu is its music, which is downright mediocre. - Copyright SearchIndia.com.
