A derogatory word in Kannada referring to Tamilians in Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka. Originally hailing from the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu, Tamils are a significant minority in Bangalore. Many of them started off as construction workers - like the Mexicans in the U.S. - but over the last few decades Tamils have been slowly moving up the economic ladder. |
