What an offensive abomination.

If we did not love Bollywood movies so much, Deewane Huye Paagal would have put us off all films forever. So horrible is this vile trash masquerading as comedy.

The heroine Rimi Sen has zero screen presence while the antics of the remaining dramatis personae - particularly Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal - provide solid evidence of man's simian ancestry.

While movies are caricatures of reality, Deewane Huye Paagal's story line is absolutely assinine. Even for a comedy. The movie pushes the story beyond the bounds of sanity that one wonders if there's anyone at the rudder at all.

College student Tanya/Natasha (Rimi Sen) vamooses to Dubai after witnessing the murder of a scientist who has discovered a formula to reverse the process of ageing leaving behind her pining boy friend Karan (Shahid Kapoor). You see, the scientist's brother (Om Puri) and one of his sons are so desperate to get their hands on the formula that the nephew shoots his uncle. Before his death, the scientist has disclosed the formula to a toy parrot!

Meanwhile, having learnt that his inamorata has moved to Dubai, Karan seeks the assistance of Rocky (Akshay Kumar) to locate her address. Having seen Tanya, who has now changed her name to Natasha, Rocky provides misleading information to Karan about the girl because he's fallen for her.

Then there's Sanju (Suniel Shetty), the crippled good samaritan, who can't hide his affections for Natasha, and Tommy (Paresh Rawal), who's conned Natasha into believing he is handicapped after falling under her car.

As if the antics of these three were not bad enough, there's Om Puri and his two sons - the first a murderer and the second an idiot obsessed with Tanya.

Shahid Kapoor dances well while Akshay Kumar's dancing in this movie is horrid.

The Akshay Kumar-Suniel Shetty-Paresh Rawal troika that came together very well in Hera Pheri fails to deliver the goods here.

The music is forgettable. - Copyright SearchIndia.com.
