Just when you thought Bollywood movies couldn't get any worse, Apna Sapna Money Money comes along to prove that there are no limits to how low Hindi movies can sink.
If Apna Sapna Money Money proves anything at all, it proves that director Sangeeth Sivan is completely unschooled in the basic art of storytelling let alone making a good comedy.
There's absolutely no logic in mixing up multiple sub-plots without a single, strong thread tieing them all together.
You have the young girl Titli with the hole in her heart and desperately needing an operation.
There's the Arjun-Shivani romance.
Then there's the crime lord Carlos, his moll Sania and his cronies Peter et al chasing after the diamonds. There's the con man Kishan angle. The aspiring Don Mata Prasad angle.
You have the Nepali goons with their Kukris led by Rana.
The bizarre Shastriji-Sania Aunty romance.
The Kishan-Julie side story.
Oh, we almost forgot Inspector Mane trying hard to salvage his reputation.
Gosh, what was director Sangeeth Sivan thinking having so many sub-plots without an overarching plot?
None of the actors - Ritiesh Deshmukh, Jackie Shroff, Anupam Kher, Suniel Shetty, Celina Jaitly, Riya Sen, Chunky Pandey, Koena Mitra and Rajpal Yadav - distinguish themselves. The sophomoric story gives no one any chance.
Riteish Deshmukh in drag is a novel idea but then he is too mediocre an actor to carry it off well.
While we felt sorry for ourselves the most for having to experience the agony of watching trash like Apna Sapna Money Money, we were also saddened to see talented actors like Anupam Kher and Rajpal Yadav prancing around like buffoons.
Bad music makes this bad movie horrible to endure.
From the first frame to the last, Apna Sapna Money Money is a tale of confusion and incompetence. If only wisdom had prevailed in some quarter, this movie would never have seen the light of the day. And audiences would have been spared this horror show.
