SI likes crappy pizzas.
That’s why we gobble up Domino’s pizza, gorge on Papa John’s mess and gormandize at the forlorn Pizza Hut buffet.
So, when we espied an ad for Domino’s new Artisan Pizza today it didn’t take us long to fire up our Firefox 7 browser and order a Spinach & Feta Artisan Pizza before you could say Sonam Kapoor.
By the time, we took a shower and went to the dying United States Post Office to drop off our Netflix DVD (Cell 211, a Spanish film that we may or may not review) our Artisans Pizza was ready.
$7.99 changed hands and we were handed a rectangular pizza box. Rather small compared to Domino’s regular square pizza box.
On the way back home, we made a quick stop at the local Gujju liquor store to pick up some good ol’ Guinness Extra Stout Beer ($2.99).
What’s a Pizza without some beer, eh?
Anon, we were home and crunching into our thin crust Domino’s Artisan Spinach & Feta Pizza.
Domino’s Artisan Spinach & Feta Pizza – Yummy
Hey, the Domino’s Spinach & Feta Artisan Pizza is a decent pizza.
None of that crappy, vomit-inducing cheese that you usually encounter on Domino’s pizzas.
If you believe the Domino’s web site, our pizza includes Alfredo sauce, feta and Parmesan-Asiago cheeses, fresh baby spinach and onion toppings on an artisan-style crust.
Some weirdo at Domino’s has measured the Artisan Pizza at 13″ x 9″ and we’ll take his word.
The cheese quality on the rectangular Artisan Pizza (8-slices) was more than acceptable and the Feta Cheese added a nice flavor to it.
Fortunately, the spinach topping did not have the taste of some chemicals sprayed on them just before being shoved into the oven.
Onion flavor was muted and the taste of spinach and Feta cheese was dominant.
With the Guinness, it was delicious.
Well, the edges were a little hard and to this gluttonous desi at least a lot of the pizza surface area was naked. 🙁
Our whining aside, Domino’s Artisan Spinach & Feta Pizza was a good chain-store pizza but at $7.99 it’s a RIPOFF for eight small pieces.
SI’s suggested price for the Domino’s Artisan Spinach & Feta Pizza – $5.99.
Domino’s, are you listening?
Thanks SI,now I know what I’ll be eating this time tommoro night with my “Arrogant Bastard”(4.99) beer and softcore Indian Porn!

this happens in many college hostels, but didn’t expect in “THE IIT” with all those talk about being ‘the best in the world’ !..

Stay away from all things Chinese. They don’t like Indians. 😉
On a serious note, in the U.S. too we’re now going through our version of food poisoning.
Cantaloupe fruits have caused multiple deaths here due to Listeria. 13 people have already died and scores are sick!

I am surprised about 2 things here.
1) you said the Pizza at Dominos was less cheesy.
Because the last time I ate there, my pizza had the cheese equivalent to a 50 g Cheese packet.
2) You said the pizza was good.
Au Contraire, Dominos over here in Chennai seldom delivers good quality Pizzas. Their best pizza, ironically, happens to be the Pan pizza (Small 8 inch sized pizza) costing around Rs 38 (Exclusive of Taxes). All the other pizzas at Dominos are at best, average at taste, and filled with Cheese.
Plus, they charged me for Tomato Sauce 🙁
When it comes to Pizzas (flavourized as per Indian standards), Pizza Hut provides the best quality pizzas, compared to their counterparts, Pizza Corner and Dominos.
Do you have Pizza Corner over there?? If so, how did you find the taste of Pizzas there? would love to know?
SearchIndia.com Responds:
Domino’s is usually crap but we found this new one Artisans Spinach & Feta to be decent, less cheesy and better quality cheese.
Pizza Hut here is crap. We’ve been to multiple locations, same tired look, same, crappy pizza.
We haven’t heard of Pizza Corner….just checked their Indian menu here. Looks interesting – Paneer Tikka Pizza, Jugalbandi (with Chettinad seasoning), Wow!
There’s a Singas Pizza in NJ that we’ve seen Indians flock to.

Good suggestion! Me planning to check out that flavor at the nearest Pizza Corner outlet on GST road. Hope I find it tasty!
Btw, Pizza Hut in Chennai provides the best quality of Pizza. Because I always find that Pizza Hut has 1) Customized it’s pizzas to suit Indian flavors (Vegetable Kadai and Tikka come to mind) and 2) Have got their cheese and toppings combination right.
Btw, the rates of Pizzas goes like this. At Pizza Corner, the average price of a Small (Personal) sized pizza amounts to Rs 120+(3 dollars inclusive of all Taxes). While at Pizza Corner, the small pizza costs around Rs 100 (75+ taxes).
Dominos is the cheapest, but apart from their Pan Pizza (Priced at 45), they seldom have good flavors.

1. Both can’t be Pizza Corner in your last para. Now you know we read every comment! 😉
2. You write: Btw, Pizza Hut in Chennai provides the best quality of Pizza.
Pizza Hut must be really desperate here because an hour or so back we saw a girl standing on the sidewalk outside the place waving a $5.99 Lunch Buffet sign. If Pizza Hut can’t get enough customers to walk in even for the $5.99 buffet and has to send a girl to the sidewalk with a sign, they must be hurting real bad. Let’s hope Pizza Hut goes out of business!

– Oops, my Bad. The first instance was meant to be Pizza Hut, the second is Pizza Corner. Thanks for pointing it 🙂

How ironic!!!! They almost put Dominos out of Business here. I think there is a street in Adyar (Adyar happens to be a very posh locality in Chennai) where you have all the famous food outlets (KFC, Pizza Hut, Marrybrown, Dominos and 2 chinese restaurants whose names I cannot recollect). I once went to the Pizza Hut outlet at 10pm one day because all the other ones were closed. Those buggers made me wait 30 minutes to serve one Pizza.
The same issue with the Pizza Hut at Ashok Nagar. No matter which time you go, they are always full of people and make you wait for 30 mins to serve a stupid Pizza.
In case you are wondering, most of the Dominos Pizza outlets in Chennai do not have much crowds compared to Pizza Hut inspite of serving the cheapest Pizzas. But however, let’s not forget that when it comes to tastebuds, I prefer Pizza Hut over Dominos anyways. They somehow seem to have customized their pizzas to suit the local taste.

Here, both Domino’s & Pizza Hut are essentially takeout places.
In the case of Domino’s it’s 100% takeout and with Pizza Hut, a very big chunk of their business is takeout. The only silver lining with Pizza Hut is that some locations serve beer here. 😉
