Depressing News for Kamal Haasan Fans

As longstanding Kamal Haasan fans, we’re extremely disappointed with recent developments concerning his mega-budget upcoming film Viswaroopam.

It seems the versatile South Indian actor will only be responsible for the following activities in the action film Viswaroopamacting (the hero), direction, story, screenplay, lyrics and dialogs.

The depressing and terrible news for all of us is that Kamal Haasan will not be playing the heroines’ roles too.

Folks, can it get any worse?

Why do you need Sonakshi Sinha and Isha Sharvani when our Dasavatharam wonder has 9 roles still left in Viswaroopam.

After all, Kamal Haasan is only 57-years-old and surely he can pass off for 16 Vayathinile.

Also, why do we need a separate cinematographer and is there any sense in signing up Shankar, Ehsaan, and Loy for the music when we have the versatile Kamal. After all, didn’t he give a demo of his music prowess in Manmadhan Ambu by singing.

Guys, all is still not lost as shooting for Viswaroopam has yet to commence.

We hope all of us can join forces and prevail upon Ulaga Madayan Nayagan to drop Sonakshi Sinha and Isha Sharvani and don the churidar or a Sari himself.

Bad News for Kamal

By the way, there’s some bad news for Kamal Haasan on the horizon.

Rajinikanth is not dying.

The man is recovering in a Singapore hospital and will return to Chennai in a few weeks and start shooting for Rana.

With Rajini returning to films, all hopes of Kamal Haasan ever returning to the center-stage of Tamil film industry are dashed.

Kamal has been creating negative news for most of his recent movies. Mostly these were due to targetted campaign against him for whatever reason while some were of his own making. He should just act and let the others do their job.

Manmadhan Ambu – The whole thing around one song perceived as anti-Hindu by some jokers

Marmayogi – His trouble with Pyramid Saimira and their funding which resulted in the movie getting scrapped. This haunted him even during the release of Unnaipol Oruvan

Dasavatharam – Someone filed a case that Kamal stole his story.

Vettaiyaadu – The produced did a suicide attempt and movie was delayed

Mumbai Xpress – Some idiots wanted the name to be changed into tamil

Vasool Raja – Some doctor’s association felt that the movie was derogatory to their profession

Virumaandi – The whole thing around the film’s name being changed from Sandiyar

Aalavandhaan – The public fall out with the producer Thaanu

Hey Ram – BJP, Congress and RSS were all unhappy with the film

    etc.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

We think a lot of lawsuits filed around the time of a movie’s release are PubliShitty stunts.

It’s hard to believe Kamal Haasan stole a story as crappy as Dasavatharam. This must be original! 😉

As we said earlier, Kamal Haasan’s only hope of regaining his past glory with Tamil fans lies in Rajinikanth’s disappearance from the movie scene.

@ Naveen >> Dasavatharam – Someone filed a case that Kamal stole his story.

What?? Where is story in Dasavatharam?

      SearchIndia.com Responds:

By virtue of its not having a story, Dasavatharam is a Tamil original. 😉

      • Naveen   June 23, 2011 at 12:16 am

Poor guy was acting in 10 roles and you expect him to also write a good story and screenplay?? That is so unfair :p

        SearchIndia.com Responds:

Sometimes we wonder if Viswaroopam will ever see the light of the day, given the high costs involved (Rs 150-crore???) and the fact that Kamal Haasan is no longer a bankable star. When costs were low, it may not have mattered that much, but with production costs soaring commercial considerations are foremost.

        • Naveen   June 23, 2011 at 12:42 am

Kamal Haasan no longer bankable seems to be an exaggeration. 3 out of his last 4 movies were superhits (irrespective of quality) Yes! even Unnaipol Oruvan is supposed to have made a lot of money relative to its budget. Financially, only Manmadhan Ambu was a flop.

Vishwaroopam: 150 Crores? really?? Who is the idiotic producer?? Sangu dhaan!

Kamal may still have star value but I doubt if he has it in him to get enough audience to make a 150 cr movie profitable.

          SearchIndia.com Responds:

We’d be skeptical of claims that 3 out of Kamal’s last 4 movies were superhits. The only Tamil film that was a superhit in recent memory is Enthiran.

No idea who is producing Viswaroopam (presumably, they’re still scrounging around for money) but the distributor is Kamal’s own Rajkamal International.

The three are Vettaiyaadu, Dasavatharam and Unnaipol Oruvan.

            SearchIndia.com Responds:

True, there is a lack of a verifiable data from unbiased third parties regarding BO collections for Tamil movies. But we doubt the first and third (above) ever rose to the status of superhits.

Unnaipol Oruvan was a caricature of A Wednesday.

We took a lot of flak for the Unnaipol Oruvan review from outraged fans – http://www.searchindia.com/2009/09/17/unnaipol-oruvan-review-unnaipol-oru-madayan

            @StrYngLad74, SI and other jokers

Hmm. SI back again lashing out at kamal. I being an ardent fan as SI points out should not leave without a message:here is my post (ha,ha,ha!)

For SI, StrYngLad74 and other jokers who blabber that kamal is the biggest egoist and over indulgent artist that Indian cinema has ever seen:

Here is the list of kamal’s multi starrers:

            Giraftaar – Amitabh bachchan
Hey ram – Naseerudin shah and SRK(Bollywood)
Chachi 420 – Om puri (Bollywood)
            UPO – Mohan lal (Mollywood)
Thevar magan – Sivaji ganesan (tamil)
Vetri vizha,Vasool raja – Prabhu (tamil)
Kaadhala Kaadhala – Prabhu deva (tamil)
            Panchatantram,thenali – Jayaram (Mollywood)
            Magarasan,sathileelavathi – Ramesh Arvind(kannada)
            Anbesivam,manmadhan ambu – Madhavan(tamil)
            Virumaandi,Mumbai express – Pasupathy(tamil)
            Kuruthipunal – Arjun(tamil)
            PKS – Abbas(tamil)

Plus, more than a dozen films, he acted along with his good old friend rajnikanth.

Had kamal been a egoist as per your statement,he would not have shared screen space with other great actors listed above.

Except for a few films like abhay and dasavathar where his histrionics were overdone, he got along very well with other actors.

In fact, Rajni is the one who tries to dominate himself frame by frame in his movies with his so called stylish gimmicks. The fact that rajni has not done many multi starrers unlike kamal (he shared screen space only with his two counterparts in gollywood – kamal & prabhu) explains that he is unwilling to share screen space with other legendary actors. Most gollywood bachchas of today like ajith,Vijay, simbhu, sombhu etc follow the same trend as rajni as if they have built adorable images and hailed as greatest actors. Kamal is miles ahead of them all and yet he does not claim himself as “Ulaga nayagan”; its only his fans who claim that which shall happen for every other star who commands a huge fan following base.By your logic, then rajni does not deserve a “superstar” tag for his “acting” skills.

Of course, Naseeruddin shah doesn’t have a star tag but neither he commands a huge fan following base.By now, you might have realized how difficult is to gather a fan following by being an actor and not a star. Kamal has managed to do that fairly successful all these years and hence he deserves credit for his versatility at least.

            SearchIndia.com Responds:

            1. Good points on the multi-starrers

            2. You write: Kamal is miles ahead of them all …

We’ve always agreed that Kamal is way better than the Vijays, Ajiths, Simbhus, Kombhus and the other shaitans making up the Tamil film industry.

    • vjcool   June 22, 2011 at 5:44 am

Publishitty stunts it is, like the fading heroines, suddenly accusing with alleged affairs etc, etc.. like some bomb blast that wins elections.. and some Singapore medications that keep political heat off and films in the center stage. anyways its whatever it takes to maintain a decent lifestyle.

you may have sen this or similar quotes
“I`m a whore, all actors are whores. We sell our bodies to the highest bidder.” -William Holden

You write: “The depressing and terrible news for all of us is that Kamal Haasan will not be playing the heroines’ roles too.”

Ha ha! that is exactly what my sister told me when Dasavatharam was released. Kamal is a well read and intelligent fellow, but he is squandering it by trying to be jack of all trades. There are no good story writers in Tamil cinema, almost all of the times it is the directors job. That is where, Malayalam cinema differs and they had so many good stories from good writers made into wonderful movies.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

You write: There are no good story writers in Tamil cinema

As if there are good actors, good villains, good comedians, good directors and good producers in Tamil cinema.

Tamil film industry only has good bad thieves like Kamal Haasan, Venkat Prabhu, A.R.Murugadoss ….
