   I am very disappointed with Dhoni’s decision to leave out Ashwin (A good spinner and moderate batsman) in favour of Nehra. I wish that he had brought in Nehra instead of the monotonous MUNAF PATEL, that would have made Indian bowling incisive. But I guess Dhoni thinks Munaf is better than Aswin. I wish that Munaf proves himself and contributes to an Indian win.

   As for me replying to Kreacher’s comment, I guess I would need to again string in facts, which I am afraid would be too needless at this hour as India are taking on Pakistan. Since I am anyways gonna lose the battle as “Sachin will ultimately prove that he is a BIG match player anyways by playing great innings against Pak and SL”.
   This is one verbal battle I would love to lose. What is the use of me presenting facts when I wholeheartedly believe that Sachin will score anyways.

   And just for the record, no matter what stupid decision DHONI makes, no matter what brilliance Pakistan shows, India must and will win this match.

   Do you think that Ravichandran Aswin’s exclusion will affect the India-Pak match result in any way. By the way Sachin and Dhoni are batting, I’ll be surprised if we can reach 300 considering the current run-rate and Raina being the last recognized batsmen.

   I still think Dhoni did a BIG mistake by excluding Aswin.

   We are more concerned about the batting because if we have a solid 325-350 score that can to some extent compensate for the inadequate bowling. Alas, that won’t happen today.

   Wiser heads than ours (only in cricket, mind you) aka the talking heads on TV believe Aswin’s exclusion was a mistake.

     I sincerely pray that this is one of those rare days where the Indian bowlers come to the party and take wickets. But highly unlikely, if India desire to win, then the old menancing Zaheer-Nehra combination has to click.

     Nehra needs to bowl like the fast (really fast) bowler Nehra of 2002-03, I am sure if Dhoni places more confidence in Nehra and Zaheer’s abilities, we can sneak home.

     Ashwin is a confident frontline bowler, he can bowl at any situation, has a good temperament and Pakistanis have never faced him (they didn’t play IPL last season). Given all these, Ashwin’s exclusion is a BIG mistake.

     Hope it doesn’t cost us the match. Pakistan batting is not so great and we still have chances provided we make atleast 250.

    Hoping Dhoni plays a “Captain’s innings” today and bails out India. This idiot has done nothing worthy of note, including shamelessly promoting himself ahead of Kohli and being the cause of two BATTING COLLAPSES against England and South Africa.

    Maybe to remind you of a crucial statistic, No country has ever won a World Cup without some contributions from its captain.

    1975 – Clive Llyod scored 102 off 80 balls to lead West Indies

      Boss, India might have put up a pathetic batting show, but I am sure that they will win this match. Pressure is also on the Pakis. First, it is Indian batting that got exposed. I am wondering if the pitch is really a batting strip as they suggested. I see that it does swing a little and the evening dew will soak the outfield, which means there is bound to be some difficulty for the fielding, and the batting side as well.

      If Indian bowlers Zaheer and Nehra bowl inspired spells and rip the top order out, we seriously get a match on our hands.

      As they say, it ain’t all over till the fat lady sings. For some stupid reason, I feel Pakistan will get bundled out for 238-245.

      Some Indian bowler has to take up the charge and blow out the Pakistani batting.

          @Boopalanj: It doesn’t matter what Kini says, as long as Mr.Dhoni doesn’t make any stupid decisions, India will win easily. Stop blaming me, ask Dhoni to stop making instinctive decisions and include good bowlers the next time around.

          India should have ideally won this match by 38 runs, but ended up winning a bit closer. Sri Lanka wont offer India this luxury. I hope Dhoni understands that he needs wicket-taking bowlers to win matches 🙂

    From the look of things, India are not at all doing good. A weak set of openers line up scores 20/0 in 3 overs. Shame!

    None of the Indians have showed any guts for the fight. It is as if they are playing a league game.I wish Dhoni and co realise the magnitude of the situation. If India desire to show that they can win matches from any position, today could be their best chance. If India bowl and field with determination, they can easily bundle out Pakistan within 45 overs.

    I will not be posting any further comments till 9pm. Too tensed to say anything. Dhoni, and his bigmouth, have done nothing worthwhile in this match.

    I am still hopeful. Hopefully, things improve. I want to post a comment here saying India win Thriller. I pray it happens soon.

        Well, though this was his third MotM against Pakistan in the World Cups, I am pretty sure he himself wouldn’t have been very thrilled with the chances he offered. His 98 in 2003 was a class above by comparison. Anyway, a top score in a tight Indian victory is a gift horse whose mouth I will not look into.

          I did see them (in fact this is a response to one of them). I am really hoping the debate doesn’t continue as I am knackered. I have slept only 4 hours out of the last 72, juggling work and cricket, and am surviving purely on post-victory euphoria at this point 🙂

      “Sachin and Nehra making Aswin eat his words” – I am happy for Nehra, buddy. Seriously. He is a match winner and always was one. Dhoni doesn;t know how to use him. With some good matches, Nehra will blossom to be a better strike bowler in the future. But it all depends on Dhoni using him well.

      Dhoni should stop being adamant and give more encouragement to Nehra. At present, he seems to believe Munaf more than Nehra. I bet Nehra is a better bowler anyday. Trust my word, one day, if Nehra is selected in final and comes to form, the cup will be India’s to take.

      Until then, enjoy the cricket. 🙂

        Dhoni sucks I admit but what more encouragement can you give than giving Nehra the ball in last over of SA match (though Bhaji also had one) in which Nehra screwed up big time.

        Even if he personally is not faring that well in his batting, at the end of the day he seems to be delivering the desired results.

        We also like his calm, unruffled composure despite the obvious pressure.

        Kumar Sangakkara sports an even more calm attitude on the ground.

        Compared to Afridi (very hands-on on the ground), Kumar Sangakkara and M.S.Dhoni seem to have greater confidence in their boys. A kind of you are big-boys you know what to do, just do it.
