Ever since we got a flyer in the mail advertising McDonald’s new Shamrock McCafe Shake, we’ve been keen on trying it.
Yes, we know, we know.
Normal humans don’t eat at McDonald’s. Only weirdos, idiots or the poor eat there.
Don’t y’all start screaming at us, now.
But the picture of the green shake looked so attractive to yours truly.
We had to try it.
So finally we made the time to head to the newly renovated Mac in our neighborhood the other day.
My, my what a crowd at McDonald’s around 6PM EST. America does have lots of weirdos and poor souls. ๐
We quickly ordered a medium-sized Shamrock Shake, a large fries and some oatmeal cookies (3 for a buck).
Decent Taste
The Shamrock Shake is in a light-green shade and comes with cream on top and the obligatory cherry.
We popped our straw into the glass and sucked hard.
Voila, that’s a nice taste.
Thick but not as thick as a chick-fil-A shake, the Shamrock Shake has a key lime pie-ish taste plus the strong flavor of mint.
Since we love both key lime pie and mint flavors, the Shamrock Shake easily found favor with us.
In our mid-Atlantic state, the medium-sized Shamrock Shake costs $2.39. That’s a little expensive for anything at McDonald’s but we couldn’t find any coupons. ๐
Of course, we wouldn’t recommend McDonald’s to normal humans. As for the schmucks, weirdos and the too-poor to eat anywhere else, May God have mercy on those souls.
By the way, it was all green in the toilet the next morning. No kidding. ๐
Wiki tells us that Shamrock Shake is not a new flavor.
Apparently, it was first introduced in 1970 and McDonald’s been bringing the flavor back in March to celebrate St.Patrick’s Day.
Had a burger at Five Guys last weekend. It was excellent.
