India Digest – Manmohan, Supreme Court, Abhishek

* Cabinet Reshuffle – If Manmohan Singh eventually notches up any achievement to his credit, it’ll be for preventing Rahul Gandhi’s easy accession to the throne. A corruption scandal a day and this budda is blithely shuffling around the rickety chairs on the falling deck as if all’s well with the nation.

Maybe, a shot of Viagra will jolt the Sikh fella out of his stupor.

Or, is this the Sikh sick revenge for the massacre of Sikhs following Indira Gandhi’s assassination. What did Rahul Gandhi’s father Rajiv Gandhi say: When a big tree falls…..

* Plunder, eh? Really? – India’s Supreme Court has finally come to the earth-shattering conclusion that Black Money stashed abroad is plunder of the nation. How did these fellas pass their law exams?

BTW, if we’re bringing back Black Money parked abroad, could we pleeze start with the Bofors loot.

* Non-News of the Day – UAE to support India’s UNSC bid.

How many of you can locate this UAE dot on the map?
(Hindustan Times)

* Abhishek Bachchan, Ha Ha Ha – It’s hard to talk about our favorite Bollywood non-actor Mr.Aishwarya Rai without falling off our chair in sheer ecstasy at his comic antics onscreen and offscreen. 😉

Our little twit is all atwitter, on Twitter, obviously, at encountering Ganesh Ji at a shoe-businessman’s house in Milan, Italy.

No, Ganesh Ji is not a Union minister or Bollywood producer but a statue of the elephant-headed Indian God.
(Times of India).

Ganesh Ji, please give this poor twit a hit. 😉

Now with Ganesh Ji’s permission we’ll get back to our Gin.

Hey SI, heard you are gonna watch Kattradhu Tamizh. It is a “different” movie, in the sense that it tries to tell a realistic story. BUT, and this is a huge but, it is only an okayish movie, mostly because the screenplay is sort of aimless. Decent acting, though.

Please check out my recommendation of Pudhupettai. It is your favourite tamil director Selvaraghavan’s arguably finest film and it does not center around love, love and love only which you hate even in some realistic films.
You’ll love pudhupettai, I guarantee you.

One more film that is a must-watch is Angadi Theru. This film is not only superb, but also found favour with the tamil audience(contradictory though it may seem) and went on to become one of the highest profiting films(by percentage) in 2010.
Please do check out both. I have always given you solid recommendations. These ones too, will meet your high expectations, I assure you. Dunno if you can get it on netflix or ask someone from India to get it for you, but these wonderful films deserve all the attention they can get.

We’ll definitely watch all three. As to when, that depends on how soon we can lay our hands on them.

I second Racer_44, Angadi Theru is THE BEST MOVIE OF 2010 even beating the so-called highest crossing Endhiran. The film was made with a measely budget of 6+ crores and yet managed to gross atleast 10 times the amount.
Morever, it is the closest way of depicting life of the rural people who work like hell in shops like Saravana stores to make a meagre wage.

As for Katradhu Tamizh, the film starts good, but loses its way within 1 hour and becomes over preachy at times.
To put it shortly, Kattradhu Tamizh (Originally called Tamizh MA) starring Jeeva, a person who has done his MA in Tamil Literature. He struggles to find a job, gets disillusioned when he sees lesser-talented friends of his earning astronomical salaries just because they work in IT. The director tries desperately to manage the story around Jeeva’s struggle in making a decent living and finding his childhood love, but fails miserably when the film tends to center around the topic of Information technology vs Other Industries. The ending is tragic as usual 🙁 A different film, could have been better.

I haven’t watched Pudhupettai, but having known Selvaraghavan, the film must be a quality one. You can bet on Racer 44’s recommendations, skip Kattaradhu tamizh, watch the other 2 movies.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

We’ll watch them in the order we get them. Hopefully, in the not too distant future.

The old saying that only the truly asleep can be awoken, those who act like sleeping cannot – refers to this scenario here. Not sure that MMS has the power (or wherewithal) to make sweeping changes. But preventing the result of a failed contraceptive (Rahul G) from ascending to the throne for as many years deserves an award!

Guess same goes for TN for MuKa preventing Stalin or Azhagiri or Kanimozhi from becoming CM. Wonder who would exit first? MuKa or MMS?

    1. You Write: Not sure that MMS has the power (or wherewithal) to make sweeping changes. But preventing the result of a failed contraceptive (Rahul G) from ascending to the throne for as many years deserves an award!

You forgot to mention the Pizza Queen/Pasta Queen (take your pick) whose only qualification to head the Congress Party is her last name Gandhi. 🙁

    2. You write: Wonder who would exit first? MuKa or MMS?

If that’s your sly way of asking us whose photo should wear a garland first then we would say hang the garland of roses over MuKa’s picture first for presiding over a family and a party of wastrels.

At least, Manmohan Singh’s children are doing good work. One of them (Amrit Singh) is with ACLU in NYC. The less said the better about MuKa’s spawn the better.

Also, Manmohan is keeping Rahul ‘zero achievement’ Gandhi at bay.
