God, how desperate can people get for a mere phone.
So what if it’s the new iPhone 4.
Sick, this consumerist affliction for the latest shiny gadget (yours truly included in that list, sadly),
Is it any surprise then that Apple is tooting the horn that it’s sold over 1.7 million of its iPhone 4 through Saturday, June 26.
The iPhone 4 was launched just four days back, on June 24.
Here’s Apple CEO Steve Jobs boasting about the initial success:
This is the most successful product launch in Apple’s history. Even so, we apologize to those customers who were turned away because we did not have enough supply.
iPhone 4 features a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, HD 720p video recording, Multitasking and Folders.
Some Flaws
In our early testing, we’ve found some issues while holding the bottom left portion of phone in our hand.
Last night, the NYT application crashed three times when we did that.
The new phone has been launched in the U.S., UK, France, Germany and Japan.
By the end of July, the new phone is set to debut in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
India, you ask?
Well, let the folks back home string a wire between two empty metal cans and pretend they’re talking on the iPhone 4. 😉
Amazing numbers but it is just a result of Apple brand and their kick-ass marketing.
Btw Does your area have Sprint connection ? You could have gone for HTC EVO 4G as it is a slightly better phone and the only difference is that it doesn’t have screen as impressive as in iPhone 4 and it doesn’t sport an Apple Logo.
What about the reception issues while holding that phone ? Is it severe ? I have read somewhere that if you buy the case which is provided by Apple for $30, it solves the problem.
Also it is rumored that Airtel and Vodafone will launch the iPhone 4 in India in Fall 2010 or so.
SearchIndia.com Responds:
1. Yes, we’re in a Sprint coverage area but the Evo 4G has gotten rotten reviews for its serious battery issues from reviewers like the New York Times’ David Pogue and Wall Street Journal’s Walter Mossberg.
BTW, 4G is still not widely available here. Not available in our entire state yet Sprint will charge $10 for that non-existent feature. That’s a total ripoff.
Plus, after two years we’ve gotten used to the iPhone.
2. The reception issue seems to be there (at least the bars on top-left of phone keep disappearing if you hold the bottom left of iPhone 4 in your hand) but does not appear severe. Since we use the Bluetooth ear-piece a lot (even at home), it might not prove to be an issue at all for us
3. You write: Amazing numbers but it is just a result of Apple brand and their kick-ass marketing.
Now, now, you’ve taken our headline literally. 😉
