Pakistani American David Coleman Headley a.k.a Daood Gilani was charged by the U.S. Justice Department today in the Mumbai terrorist attacks last year that killed over 170 people and injured several hundred.
Six Americans were among those killed in the Mumbai attacks.
U.S. Justice Department officials said David Headley attended training camps of the Pakistan-based terrorist outfit Lashkar e Tayyiba (which has been fomenting violence in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir) and allegedly conspired with its members to carry out the deadly attack in Mumbai in November 2008.
According to legal documents filed by the Justice Department today at the U.S. District Court in the Northern District of Illinois (Eastern Division), David Headley made five extended trips to India (in 2006, 2007 and 2008) before the Mumbai terror attacks to conduct extensive surveillance.
During his trips to India, Headley allegedly took pictures and made videotapes of various Mumbai targets including the Taj Mahal hotel, the Oberoi hotel, the Leopold Café, the Nariman House, and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus train station as well as other places of public use, state and government facilities, public transportation systems and infrastructure facilities.

The Taj Mahal hotel, the Oberoi hotel, the Leopold Cafe, the Nariman House, and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus train station were the scenes of horrific terrorist attacks that started on November 26, 2008, and continued through November 28, 2008.
Justice Dept. filings today also allege that following each trip to India David Headley returned to Pakistan, met with other co-conspirators, and provided the results of his surveillance, including photographs, videos and oral descriptions of various locations.
Headley was arrested in October for allegedly planning terrorist attacks against a Danish newspaper and two of its employees.
By the way, Lashkar chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed is a free man in Pakistan, preaching his hateful sermons.

Pakistanis are loose characters.
They trust Taliban who do suicide bombings in cities of Pakistan 2-3 times a week rather than Americans who are aiding their country (economically and military).
