Incredible India 27: Pregnant? Die, Bitch

Time for another edition of Incredible India.

* So you think if you are sick, old or pregnant you are safe from the marauding pigs in khaki in Incredible India. Only shows how naive you are.

A pregnant woman and her three-year-old daughter were tossed out of a moving train by two policemen in Lakhimpur district near Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh.

Yes, the poor woman died and the child lies injured.

Just another day in Incredible India, right na?

* It took 400 policemen to ‘encounter’ (Indian English for cold-blooded murder of suspects by policemen) an alleged dacoit Naan alias Ghanshyam Kewat in Jamauli village in Chitrakoot district of Uttar Pradesh.

* Hear, hear. All pigs (alas, not the two-legged swines) have been ordered to do a vanishing act from the Cuddalore Municipal area of Tamil Nadu within one week. If not, ha ha ha, action will be taken under Section 241 of the Tamil Nadu Municipalities Act 1994 on the pig breeders.

* Ten years and the 10-km rail track between Nagapattinam and Velankanni in Tamil Nadu is still not completed. No, we’re not surprised.

* So you think only stupid Hindus come to Varanasi to perform final rites of their close ones. No. Even foreigners from as far as New Zealand have caught this weird bug. Here, read this excerpt from the Times of India:

A young foreign lady clad in a white saree and a green shawl wearing rudraksha beads and chandan on her forehead performed Hindu rituals before the immersion of the ashes of her husband in the holy Ganga here on Thursday.

….”I have deep faith in Indian culture that made me come here to immerse the ashes of my husband Mitchell Samuels, who died a year ago, into holy Ganga in Varanasi,” said Karla Brodie, a native of New Zealand. Karla had never visited Varanasi in the past, but she had heard a lot about the city from others. Karla had tied the nuptial knot with Mitchell in the traditional Indian style in New Zealand.

* OK, Pradeep please tell us what you see. A 26-year-old software engineer Pradeep Kumar Gondkar committed suicide at a Hyderabad temple so that he could ‘see what lies behind the curtain of death.’

* Yet another foreigner raped in India. Who’s keeping count?

Mera Bharat Mahaan.

    Very glaring post indeed!

“So you think only stupid Hindus come to Varanasi to perform final rites of their close ones.”, I really think you should stop using such derogatory words. You are sounding like a racist, infact you sound very much like Karunanidhi.

Be a little polite in your tone, you may have your own likes/dislikes, but doesn’t mean you can abuse members of any religion as you like. Words like “Stupid Hindus, barbaric muslims” are spoken only by those civilized idiots who are biased towards a certain religion for their own specific reasons. Trust you are not one of those.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    1. You write: Words like “Stupid Hindus, barbaric muslims” are spoken only by those civilized idiots who are biased towards a certain religion for their own specific reasons. Trust you are not one of those.

So, you think the cow-worshipping, cow-piss drinking, cow-dung smearing Hindus are not stupid.

So, you think the Muslims bombing innocent children, men, women in suicide attacks in hopes of screwing a bunch of virgins in heaven are not barbaric.

So, you think Jesus was really born of a virgin Mary or that he was resurrected on the third day after his death or that the Pope is not an idiot when he says condoms aggravate AIDS.

No sir, we are not biased against any one religion. We are biased against all religions.

    2. You write: You are sounding like a racist, infact you sound very much like Karunanidhi

When did the decrepit loose paiya make racist remarks? We don’t recollect seeing any.

Karunanidhi once ridiculed the existence of Lord Rama, and the belief that adam’s bridge [RamSedhu, Ramar Palam in tamil] was built by Rama’s monkey-army. That generated heat-waves of anger across northern india, so that a BJP leader [a sage] declared that he would cut Karuna’s tongue and dedicate it to Lord Rama.

The reason was – BJP was against the project Sedhu samudhram, an 150 year dream project of Southern Tamilnad, which actually was planned for the development East coast, requires demolishing [or mere evacuation] of RamSedhu [adam’s bridge]. So, angered Karuna in a public meeting, questioned the existence of Rama in the past, asked if RamSedhu was built by him, what was the engineering college he got graduated from.

Also, Karuna would make fun of Hindu festivals such as Diwali [as it is a symbol of Krishna killing Narakasura], but he would participate in Ramzan / Eid festivals and appreciate the insights of the festivals [to gain minority people’s goodwill].

When he was called a Ravana by opponent parties, he responded saying he would be the happiest, if they had felt he was Ravana. As, for him, Ravana was a Tamil king who ruled Lanka, and a Dravidian, Rama is an aryan [North indian]. He would often cite the letter written by Nehru to Indira in London, where Nehru said the war between Aryans-Dravidians was later believed to be the Devas-Asuras war. Karuna is against the domination of the north over south and the superior mentality they show over south.

This must be the only sensible thing that the Loose Paiya has said in a six decade political career

    2. You write: Karuna is against the domination of the north over south and the superior mentality they show over south.

The North Indian-South Indian feelings persist even here.

In the context, stupid Hindus or barbaric Muslims does not refer to all.

When we say, ‘all ye tamil schmucks who worship their hero in the screen’ – does not mean all the tamils are schmucks. Instead, it refers to a section of tamils who are ardent fans of some heros and would do anything stupid for them.

Its annoying that people even rape their domestic help leave alone foreigners. Shiney Ahuja was caught last week and now there is another swine from Delhi involved in such a thing.

By the way, extremism exists in all the religions, beliefs, languages, caste, societies, etc, in some form by some people.

Ok, here in coimbatore, an year before, a guy was keeping the deadbody of his younger brother in the house, and was uttering the sayings from Bible, with his wife. He believed that, like the resurrection of jesus on the third day, with the power of prayer, his brother would also resurrect and come to life.

When police surrounded the house on the third day morning, [suspecting the odour from the house and a locked door], the body was in a decomposing state.

The church is quite powerful here too and has a strong voice through the nuts in the Republican Party.

The same pope once said, that verses in the bible / prayer songs that address god as ‘father’ need not be changed to ‘god’, because of demands from some women-organizations, saying God is masculine and he is father always.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

The present Pope is a total hardline nut as demonstrated by his provocative comments on Islam, AIDS, condoms et al. In his youth, Pope Benedict was a Nazi and served in the German Army.

Interesting. That North-Indian and South-Indian divide even persists beyond of the country border, where they are considered ‘browns’ altogether.

    Did you suffer?

Btw, Karunanidhi has done good things equally. Comparatively more sensible than the rival Jaya in some matters.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

You write: That North-Indian and South-Indian divide even persists beyond of the country border, where they are considered ‘browns’ altogether. Did you suffer?

Not so much because although we’re South Indian by birth we’re more cosmopolitan than the average South Indian because of our exposure to Hindi, Hindi movies et al from a very early age.

  9. boopalanj   June 19, 2009 at 3:45 pm

boopalanj: “Karuna is against the domination of the north over south and the superior mentality they show over south.”

That’s a bunch of bullshit! As if Tamilians don’t strut around like they’re the shit? They don’t seem to have very nice words for Malayalees, Telugus, or Kannadigas (fellow “DRAVIDIANS”) or North Indians. No wonder they get the same in return. The question will be who started the mud-slinging, and one could never be able to answer that.

As a Tamilian-Delhiite who did my undergrad there and also visited frequently, most Tamilians I met in TN during the eighties to late-nineties hadn’t even ventured outside the state or their “hood” and yet had a scathing opinion of a North Indian they hadn’t met. Moreover most in TN think even Bengalis, Oriyas, Marathis, and Gujaratis are North Indians. Goes to show how much they knew. I can only hope it’s changed now.

Considering that Dr. Abdul Kalam and E. Sreedharan (the person responsible for Delhi Metro) have near God-like status in North India, you ought not to generalize.

boopalanj: “As, for him, Ravana was a Tamil king who ruled Lanka, and a Dravidian, Rama is an aryan [North indian]. He would often cite the letter written by Nehru to Indira in London, where Nehru said the war between Aryans-Dravidians was later believed to be the Devas-Asuras war.”

THERE IS NO ARYAN RACE OR DRAVIDIAN RACE! Dang, a Nazi, Max Mueller and a Pom, Robert Caldwell come in and propose one of the most racist and historically erroneous theories of all time and the entire country began arguing over superiority and are still arguing. Shameless of us indeed! This theory has been debunked so many times by scholars and I’m surprised the average Indian is so friggin’ ignorant of this.

This is the truth: You’re a mongrel with Caucasian, Mongolian, African, and Australoid DNA and so is every Indian and every single human on earth! GET USED TO IT!

Go read a book sometime instead of buying into political propaganda…jeez!

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

BTW, E. Sreedharan was also the head honcho for the Konkan rail, a complex project given the difficult terrain.

  12. Aswin_Kini   June 20, 2009 at 3:52 am

    @StrYngLad74:You are absolutely correct!

No use fighting which race is superior and who blamed who! I too have heard about this bullshit that North Indians dominate South Indians and Vice versa. The truth is that people in India live in their own worlds. Tamilians think they are being ostracized for no reason and vent out their meaningless frustration on Malayalees, Kannadigas, and other Indians. The same applies for people from Kerala, Karnataka, and other states, everyone has their own perspective and don’t care to even reason out the truth.

An American friend of mine once joked, in India, I see only tamilians, malayalis, Gujjus, biharis, telugus, and kannadigas, where are the INDIANS?????? It’s a truly pathetic attitude of ours to see everything in a biased and negative manner. Unless and until we realize that we all are just humans, not civilized apes, India will cease to prosper. May better sense prevail and may those stupid racist thinkers and the other idiots disappear like the dinosaurs. Jai Hind

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

You write: may those stupid racist thinkers and the other idiots disappear

Since many racist thinkers are seldom stupid, they are unlikely to disappear easily.

Au contraire, whether you like it not, a lot of racists are generally smart, highly motivated, mostly powerful and usually successful. Take a look at the history of the Whites in America, Whites in South Africa, Brahmins in India (until their power waned a few decades ago, the sway of all three groups was long and had a crushing impact on their victims) et al.

It’s the victims of racism, who are usually stupid because they are unable to break free of the shackles that oppress them often because they are unable to join ranks against their oppressors.

  13. boopalanj   June 20, 2009 at 5:59 am

SI: “Yes, language and familiarity with the culture tends to lower barriers to some extent”

    I definitely agree.

StrYngLad74: “Considering that Dr. Abdul Kalam and E. Sreedharan (the person responsible for Delhi Metro) have near God-like status in North India, you ought not to generalize.”

I did not generalize, dude. It was you who generalized about the opinion about Tamils, mate. Whatever I said was Karunanidhi’s perspective. More than half of my friends are Northies. I do not have to listen to anyone here preaching about North-South, friend.

StrYngLad74: “THERE IS NO ARYAN RACE OR DRAVIDIAN RACE”

I agree. Again, whatever I said – is on Karuna’s perspective and about what he thinks, as the explanation of SI’s question on being unaware of Karuna’s racial remarks. Probably you should have been careful on using the word ‘fellow Dravidians’ not to contradict with your own claim.

StrYngLad74: “Go read a book sometime instead of buying into political propaganda”

Ha, ha, Come on, scholar! Go read other comments, and understand what people come to say before starting a personal verbal attack on them. Losing temper soon is not good for health, Kiddo! I am not in need of any advice, and none needs to teach me how to read. Whatever I said was in reply to fellow-reader Aswin and SI’s remarks. I did not need to fight with them just like you!

True. Stupidity can be fixed, but the stupid should realize first that he/she is stupid and then undergo “de-stupidization.” It’s a lot of work anyway, so why bother?

BTW, I happened to watch “Gulaal” last night, and never in my dreams did I realize that the representation of Rajputs demanding a separate Rajputana land in the movie is actually real. Believe it or not, there is a Rajputana Liberation Front (RLF) that is proud of its Scythian heritage and blames its ills on Brahmins (the prototypical whipping boys of this century). Have a look here:

    http://rajputana.htmlplanet.com/

Its site has links to Maratha, Gujarat, Dalits, and Mughal secessionists, which I couldn’t access or probably don’t work, but I think I’ve seen enough stupidity for a 24-hr period.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

These idiots have as much chance of gaining an independent state as the Sikhs had with Khalistan.

Let the schmucks first raise enough money to acquire an independent domain name and independent hosting before all this drivel of how Brahmins plundered Rajasthan.

BTW, did you notice they describe the Dalits and Dravidians (and by extension Tamils, Kannadigas, Telugus et al) as Sudroid Negroes. The word Sudroid probably has its roots in Sudra.

Hey common, I knew that most Brahmins were so arrogant that they deserved the very harsh treatment meted out to them during the 80s and 90s. But blaming everything on Brahmins is absurd.

Folks, wake up, Brahmins constitute hardly 2-5% of the whole population (This number itself is doubtful). If people still keep on saying that Brahmins are responsible for the low economic position of 60% of the so-called lower castes in India, something is wrong somewhere. Being a brahmin myself, I have seldom wondered why people still start complaining about Brahmins. It’s true that they did start the practice of untouchability, but they were beaten to their knees socially by the Reservations in India.

Today, if a person belonging to the forward community needs to get a Medical seat in college, they ask for a cut-off mark of 298/300 (I am not kidding, this is a fact). I have seen many deserving kids lose their careers due to this factor. Even in Government jobs, only the people belonging to backward castes are given utmost consideration. Inspite of all this, people still complain that they are backward due to brahmins. If a quota system that has been existing for nearly 30 years, politicians from backward classes representing their castes in the parliament, do not abolish untouchability, is it our fault????

Coming to the low economic condition of the backward classes, only they themselves are to blame. Their heavy dependence on the Quota system and their unwarranted belief that politicians will help them is ruining their lives. Politicians consider these people as nothing but vote banks. They don’t want people of their own caste to prosper as it may lead to their downfall. It’s a pity that Indians still live in a world of darkness.

Remember, Quotas only encourage untouchability, they don’t abolish it. when you are chosen to get a selected privilege, it means that you are either special or you are marked as a person who can’t help himself/herself.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Maybe, it’s time to move away from a caste-based reservation system to a class-based system completely. But it’s unlikely to happen in India anytime soon.

Brahmins as a group are a resilient lot. Despite the numerous roadblocks (on the education and job fronts), they still manage to thrive.

Our hypothesis is that a large chunk of the South Indian diaspora in the U.S. must be Brahmins.

Sorry to move away from this conversation SI, but I have a humble request. Can you write a post on Sujatha Rangarajan, the man who was considered a pioneer amongst writers in Tamilnadu. A person who wrote on science fiction as early as 1970s. His novels , Yen Iniya Iyandira (My dear machine)had been made into a tele-serial in Doordarshan long back. As a kid, I used to watch this serial with great interest. The biggest plus point about his writing was that he was immensely knowledeable and able to present complex scientific facts into layman language.
He has written many novels, short stories, and wrote scripts for films. The 1980s Kamal Haasan starrer VIKRAM was actually one amongst Sujatha’s works.

Contrary to the garbage, nonsensical, third grade writers we find today, Sujatha was a gem in the jewel. He wrote about Time travel and Cloning way back in 1970. He also answered many questions on Politics, Astronomy, and other topics. Vikatan publications published his answers in the form of a book called YEN YETHARKU YEPPADI (Why, What for? How). It would be great if you could dedicate one of your posts on him. This is just a humble request.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Plan to watch Ananda Thandavan based on a story by Sujatha.

I donno why inspite of having very talented actors and directors we still produce garbage movies? Is it because Audiences don’t want to pay 150 bucks to watch a good film such as Anbe Sivam, or is it because nobody wants to enjoy artistic films. We may never know?

But seeing some of the Serials of Balachander and Sujatha, I am convinced that India has no dearth of talent.

In Sun TV, in 1996, there was a weekly serial called Marma Desham, produced and directed by none other than K.Balachander. The serial was about a village where there was a belief that the village deity, Karuppusamy, would kill anybody who does not adhere to the moral code set by the villagers. Their fear comes true when a series of murders occur and a man with an Aruval riding a white horse is seen. the village believe that it is none other than Karuppusamy himself. Balachander portrays the superstitious beliefs of the villagers very beautifully. The serial ends when the so-called Karuppusamy is believed to be none other than Chetan, the protagonist. The cause being split-personality.
The concept of split-personality or Multiple Personality Disorder was introduced to tamilians way back in 1996 by Balachander. This guy was way ahead of his times. If you could check the episodes of some of his serials in Youtube, you will realize how good he is.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    1. You write: I donno why inspite of having very talented actors and directors we still produce garbage movies

If we do have talented actors and directors, they’re probably hiding in some cave.

For the most part, Bollywood and Kollywood are peopled with either rank amateurs or thieving swines.

Even top stars like Kamal Haasan have been beneficiaries of theft (Thenali – What About Bob)

    2. Plus, we guess Indians generally prefer escapist fantasies.

No generalizations, I speak from experience. I spent a considerable amount of time in Tamil Nadu to know that speaking in Hindi results in angry stares, North-Indian bashing is aplenty (like I said before, without having even met one or even having been there), and who can forget the evergreen “black paint over the Hindi writing”, huh? Care to deny that last bit? As Russell Peters would say, I don’t make stereotypes, I just see them.

Moreover, I did say my experiences were based on my visits during the eighties and my undergrad stint in the nineties and I hoped it was better now. Somehow you missed that, Einstein?

SI Said: “These idiots have as much chance of gaining an independent state as the Sikhs had with Khalistan.”

The Sikhs were a truly victimized by Indira Gandhi’s policies. I’d go out on a limb to say they had a more valid reason for secession (even though I don’t support secessionists) than the Rajputs. Most of these “Ranas” who started the Rajputana movement are nothing more than billionaires who’re bawling that they’re now millionaires. They just want their ultra-conservative, patriarchal system reinstated, which includes such noble practices like Sati/Jauhar. Have you guys read about Roop Kanwar?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roop_Kanwar

Obviously, the not-so-wealthy Rajputs buy into such secessionist bullshit for reasons of faux-pride.

SI Said: “Let the schmucks first raise enough money to acquire an independent domain name and independent hosting before all this drivel of how Brahmins plundered Rajasthan.”

Kinda hard to believe a bunch of grass-chomping, chotiwaalas (pony-tailed people) had this much influence to “plunder” wealth and ruin peoples lives in every region. So much for “Bhawathi Bhiksham Dehi!” (Mother, give me alms!). But yeah, I wasn’t there to witness, so who knows?

SI said: “BTW, did you notice they describe the Dalits and Dravidians (and by extension Tamils, Kannadigas, Telugus et al) as Sudroid Negroes. The word Sudroid probably has its roots in Sudra.”

The irony is delicious, but I’ve never heard of a “Sudroid” race. They might be referring to the “Veddah” people who bear resemblance to Australoids, and were prevalent in South India and Sri Lanka, as per anthropological literature.

BTW, the “pure blood” Aborigines in Australia are known to discriminate against the mixed-bloods. So much for “playing the victim.” 😀

Just wanted to focus your attention on a very intellectual mind in Pakistan called Hassan Nisar. Listen to his monologue here, and that should put the “playing the victim” act to rest:

Hassan Nisar seems to be quite popular with many a Pakistani youngster. They see the difference between the Pak clergy who think all wisdom flows solely from the Quran and a well-informed, introspective mind like Nisar.

Yes, we’re familiar with the tragedy of Roop Kanwar.

  26. boopalanj   June 21, 2009 at 5:26 am

    @StrYngLad74,

Mister, I did not justify whatever happened in TN, and I did not deny too. You assumed so. I repeat what I said in the last comment, that whatever I said was karuna’s perspective. When SI asked,

“When did the decrepit loose paiya (Karuna) make racist remarks? We don’t recollect seeing any.”

I listed down all the views of Karuna, and what he thinks about SI & NI. I clearly mentioned “For him”, the issues were so.

There was not a necessary for you to write a long thesis on Tamil-bashing, since I did not intend to blame any party NI / SI. You assumed it and you did. Please don’t try to behave like an eye-opener and give a bit of gyaan, since whatever you told was something that I know and agree with. They are not new. I have denied only the points you thought I said.

Avoid replying in a hasty manner. I can also slam with numerous supporting points. But I do not want to stretch this useless argument.

SearchIndia may go on to deactivate my account, if I was blaming North Indians and giving biased views here, right in this discussion as some people understand.

“Plus, I didn’t tell you “HOW” to read, but “WHAT” to read.”

Very clever. Silly attempt to win the argument. A blown-up kiddo having to study the contextual meanings.

For heavensake, stop arguing on matters that were not actually brought for debates here unnecessarily.

Macha long tyme… How are you?

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Machchana Pathingala 🙂

  28. boopalanj   June 21, 2009 at 1:54 pm

teacup? If you were referring to SearchIndia, I completely agree..! 😉

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

SI is like the approaching storm that the little Mexican kid in the gas station warns Linda Hamilton about at the end of Terminator 1.

You ain’t seen nothing yet. 😉

  29. boopalanj   June 21, 2009 at 3:29 pm

Btw, you mean I exaggerated a small event?

If there is a section to display recent comments in SI [I believe this gadget is there], it would be better. Sometimes we comment on old articles, but to see reply again, we need to navigate back.

How do I change password for this account?

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    1. We used the expression storm in a teacup earlier because we thought you were getting agitated over StrYngLad74’s comments.

    2. You write: How do I change password for this account?

Click on Lost your password? Enter your user name and e-mail address and a new password will be e-mailed to you.

    3. Regarding your point on Comments, please click on the Comment RSS on the blog home page on the left under Meta table.

  30. boopalanj   June 21, 2009 at 4:21 pm

    3. Thanks for Comments RSS.

    2. I don’t mean Lost password, but to set a password of my choice.

    1. StrYngLad74 dude did not get agitated over whatever was not said? Or did I sound like I said it or it was my opinion (Don’t know where my written text went wrong)?

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    1. StrYngLad74 is a pro at this game. What we mean here is he/she/it can argue from both perspectives of an argument because of wide reading (which often but not always improves analytical/debating skills).

    2. If you’ve lost your password, then the system mails you a password, which you can use to log into your profile and then change the password.

Bias and prejudice does exists in all of us …at times we are the victim and at times the aggressor ….the point here is that …..people holding imp positions of power ….like a PM or CM should not exhibit that in any form and that is where …..the problem starts ….because then policies are framed accordingly and that only leads to more problems …..

    Example :
27% reservation for OBC ‘s or the 69% reservation in TN is a joke …in today’s rural India the OBC’s are the aggressors and Dalits / SC/ ST / Tribals are the victims ….they all are included in the reserved category …..People belonging to the later category dont have access even to primary education and hence are unable to take advantage of sops offered by the govt …..casteism is today perpetuated by the likes of Karunanidhi . Mulayam , Laloo etc …

SI does have left leanings ….quoting and reading …..books of historians who write fiction in the name of History …

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

You write: SI does have left leanings ….quoting and reading …..books of historians who write fiction in the name of History …

    Talk is cheap.

Please provide examples of writers we have quoted ‘who write fiction in the name of History.’

Boops, http://www.searchindia.com/wp-admin/profile.php will let you change the password.

Your name reminded me of this song
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0mjFqtI2QU
should belong in the IR Classics.

Lad is one of the most colorful characters in this teacup. Dunno if Lad deliberately wanted to yank your chains (he can be mean like that after getting inebriated with heavy metal songs).. if he didn’t, i am surprised that he misunderstood you.. his comprehension is usually pretty good.

SI knows how to yank most of our chains.. with outrageous titles for the Incredible India series or scathing attacks against our beloved movie stars like Abhishek Bachchan.. The uninitiated will get easily agitated them.. come into wage a war against SI and but instead fall in love with them and end up making babies (burgeoning comments section) with SI and the other members of this community. Diabolical.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    1. Thanks for the clarification on the password.

As the above URL explains, you can go to ‘profile’ and change it. But if you’ve lost your password, then the system mails you a password, which you can use to log into your profile and change the password.

    2. Nice song.

    3. Folks have been heard to say that such innocence as ours is unsuited for the Kali Yuga and here you are spinning your ‘diabolical’ theories about our Machiavellian strategy. Sob, sob. 🙁

    4. As most readers here will undoubtedly agree, our intention with the headlines is to pick the most apposite one and most definitely not the most outrageous one.

    @Ænima Of The State,

You allowed me to save my face. Love you. [I hate SI!]

Thanks for the clarification of the password [the (edited: genius) SI could not do it 😉 ]

Btw, my name is not the one that comes in the song. It follows a different ‘la’ and not ‘lla’ [Not ‘zha’ too :-)]. While the word in the song represents a name of the raaga, my name means – prince [after ‘BooPathi’ which means a king [also has several other meanings]], son of the soil, and a name of Lord Muruga. Thanks for giving me an opportunity to boast 😉

In fact my name contained a ‘b’ after ‘boo’ instead of ‘p’ [till my schooling]. 😉

Yes, I am used to the diabolical sorcerers at SI, still I fell prey 🙂

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Your name also contains ‘Boo.’ 😉

  34. boopalanj   June 22, 2009 at 3:42 pm

Also contains ‘pal’..! 😉 the-[unintelligible text in Swahili]-genius SI..! 😀

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Thanks for the compliment.

  35. boopalanj   June 22, 2009 at 3:48 pm

    😀

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Tired (from eating and drinking too much).

We’ll take a break and watch the 1944 movie Double Indemnity on Netflix Instant Play.

  36. boopalanj   June 22, 2009 at 3:52 pm

What about Machakaran and AnandaThandavam you bought recently? Did you have a chance to watch any one?

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Not yet.

    Maybe, we’ll watch Machchakaran today.

Or maybe just get out and mow the lawn with the $136 electric lawn-mower we recently got from Amazon

India is a sex starved nation !

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Whether the incidents are happening because India is a sex-starved nation or because of a premieval urge to inflict violence on a helpless being, for the victim it’s traumatic.

although i can argue that I didn’t say that Boopalan and BoopaLam are related, i’ll admit that BoopaLam was pronounced that way.
But BoopaLam may not be a Raagam because it is not listed in
    http://www.carnatic.com/carnatic/ragalist.htm
I plead ignorance as my preemptive defense.
