Damn, Where’s My iPhone; Find My iPhone, Now

This is so cooool.

At its annual developers’ conference, Apple today debuted a new feature called Find My iPhone that lets the forgetful find their iPhones should they misplace it.

Alas, this feature is available only to iPhone customers who have also subscribed to Apple’s $99 per year MobileMe service.

iPhone owners can log on to MobileMe and send a message to their iPhones, which will then play a sound even if it’s in silent mode.

Hey, you can even see the location of your lost iPhone on a Google Map.

Sweet.

As if these weren’t enough, you can send a remote command to wipe off all the data on your iPhone lest they get into wrong hands.

And when you do find your iPhone, you can recover all the deleted data through the iTunes backup copy (but remember you have to do frequent backups).

finally something to cheer about my MobileMe membership… However I do like the feature of ‘over the air sync’ of calendar and contacts but was thinking ‘am I paying too much for this?’

Are you happy with Mobile Me?

    Any frequent glitches?

no glitches, I paid $69/year for subscription along with my mac.. I like over the air sync feature a lot because I have my contacts and calendars setup on multiple computers and Mobile Me syncs all of them in a neat manner. You can also sync files using this subscription. The service is pretty good except the fact its expensive..
