President Barack Obama has named 52-year-old Timothy Roemer, a former Indiana Congressman, as the next ambassador to our India.

Besides being a Congressman from 1991 to 2003, Roemer was also a member of the 9/11 Commission.

Roemer’s appointment has to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

The position in New Delhi has been vacant since David Mulford left in February 2009.
