Well, it seems the outsourcing scumbags at IBM are at it again.
What else – preparing to lay off more American workers and replace them with cheaper Indian workers.
The cuts are coming in IBM’s global business services unit, the company’s largest group by revenue and employment, according to a report in today’s Wall Street Journal.
Yes, IBM CEO Sam Palmisano made $21 million in 2008. Go figure.
When even hugely profitable companies like IBM engage in such despicable actions, do you think there’s any hope left for the American IT worker or for this recession to end any time soon. No sir, No.
Big Job Killer
IBM is one of the biggest job killers in America and by our calculation in October 2008 had some 74,000 employees in India.
Here’s an excerpt from the WSJ story:
International Business Machines Corp. is expected to inform a large number of U.S. employees in its global-business services unit that their jobs are being eliminated, with the work of many of them being transferred to IBM employees in India, according to people familiar with the situation.
….It couldn’t be determined how many people are losing their jobs in the IBM action. IBM typically avoids public disclosure of layoffs, and a spokesman declined comment on the plan.
IBM managers have been receiving training from human-resources specialists on handling the layoffs, according to one manager involved in the process.
