The Apple App Store juggernaut continues.
Today, Apple took out a full page ad in the print edition of Wall Street Journal to blow its horn that its App Store now has 10,000 applications and that iPhone users have so far downloaded 300 million applications from the store.
That’s an amazing record considering that the App Store went live only in July this year.
Applications in the App Store come in a variety of categories including games, entertainment, productivity, music, health, reference, utility and news.
The applications work on the iPhone and the iPod touch. We have downloaded several applications including AP News, Bloomberg, AOL Radio and Yelp and for the most part the apps work well.
Most App Store applications cost less than $10 and several hundred are free.
Unfortunately, there are few applications pertaining to India in the App Store. We found one crappy India News app, a crude Panchang app and a traffic app.
We have a hard time believing that Google’s Android or RIM’s Blackberry Storm have any chance against the Apple juggernaut.
