Shahrukh Khan Stopped at US Airport
Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan does not like America, according to an interview he gave recently to the The Times (of London not the Mumbai rag Times of India).
Shahrukh Khan minced no words about America in his interview with Anil Sinanan, Times Bollywood Film Critic:
I don’t like America. I love London as I feel at home here. People say English people are very cold and not friendly but I find them amazingly warm.
It’s not the people of London alone that Shahrukh Khan finds charming.
To me London is the hub of the world and anyone doing well there is a top notch achiever to me…I am not talking about Mr Mittal or Monty Panesar but about every Indian, Pakistani, and Sri Lankan who is there. I love the fact that another country like England has opened its arms and invited us with so much love.
But Shahrukh Khan never tells us in the interview with The Times why he does not like America.
Perhaps Shahrukh Khan is too scared to explain the reason or the interviewer never asked him.
Bollywood is big in America. Most of Shahrukh Khan’s films are screened across the U.S. and the star makes good money in America through his movies and tours here.
Does Shahrukh Khan’s dislike of America include the $$$$ (hint: money)?
If his dislike of America includes the $$ too, will Shahrukh Khan deprive us of his movies and tours in future?
Since Shahrukh Khan has many fans among the Indian diaspora in USA, many of whom are also American citizens, would he elaborate on why he hates America?
What has America done to Shahrukh Khan that he should dislike this country? Has he ever been treated badly by America?
Is Shahrukh Khan’s dislike of America prompted by American foreign policy and its impact on Muslims?
But Muslims are treated no better in Shahrukh Khan’s own country India.
Of the thousand people who lost their lives in the Gujarat riots of 2002, the majority were Muslims. Most of the Muslims were literally butchered to death.
In its bold expose, Tehelka blamed the Gujarat administration headed by Narendra Modi as well as the state police for the massacre of many Muslims.
Does Shahrukh Khan have the courage to challenge Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to a debate on the wholesale massacre of the Muslims? Probably not.
Since America is a little weak these days – because of the Iraq war, the economy and our dodo President – Shahrukh Khan seems to find in America an easy target for his hatred.
Our analysis aside, we would like to know from Shahrukh Khan himself as to why he hates America.
Come on, Shahrukh Khan. Tell us the reason.
Indian Americans have contributed to your success, popularity and riches. They have a right to ask you why you dislike their country?
Should Indian Americans petition the State Department not to grant you a U.S. Visa in future? That way, you can keep company with Narendra Modi, who as you may know has been denied a Visa to the U.S.
Stop getting all hyper over nothing.
I’ve heard him say in an interview that he does not like visiting America as he finds it dull, gloomy and unfriendly, and that it is portrayed as much “warmer” than it really is in the movies.
And I agree.

That’s baloney.
In the interview with The Times (of London not the Mumbai rag Times of India), Shah Rukh Khan never really clarifies why he hates America. But he did bluntly say: I don’t like America.
As we’ve said before, one possible explanation for SRK’s hatred of America is because of U.S. foreign policy, which is wrongly perceived as anti-Islam.
But Muslims are treated with deep suspicion in SRK’s country India too and more so now after the Mumbai attacks.
beni is right….SRK did say in an interview taken during his tour ‘temptations’ that he finds america too big to his liking and that people are much colder and indifferent than what they are shown to be in films….in fact when he landed in america at the beginning of his tour and was asked “how do you feel being in the US”, he simply stared at the questioner….
btw this post has been repeated right? i seem to remember reading it before….

You write: btw this post has been repeated right?
Not repeated…since beni put a comment on an old post…we pushed it up so that others could easily read it.
We’ll push it back into the dungeons in a few hours.
What’s the buzz in India on Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi?
Here are some news on the guy. He’s into big business in the UAE, I suppose. I wonder how much money he made from his movie acting, BTW.

Do you think Shahrukh Khan has had a face job?
Looks like it. I think so. Because, recently I saw one of his photos, a casual shot that shows his ageing face features clearly visible. Now, suddenly he’s looks better in latest shots. Very suspicious, though.
I am not sure SRK gave much thought while making the comment “I dont like America”. Possibly an off-the-cuff remark, which can be interpreted in many ways.
On Rab ne bana di jodi (RNBDJ):
Positives:
1. There is not as much hype as was the case with the previous SRK movie Om Shanti Om, a rather shitty movie.
This lack of hype may actually work for the movie.
2. RNBDJ has a new female Anushka Sharma, who looks rather fetching. If she can do a Deepika Padukone,
well…
3. Watch out for Vinay Pathak (Bheja Fry, Manorama Six Feet Under, Johny Gaddar). This guy has been good consistently.
What may not work:
1. The storyline, is so-so, as you might have figured out by now, from various reports etc.
2. The music is not so great (in fact very mediocre).
3. Not sure how SRK will turn out in the role of a middle-class middle-aged husband.
4. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, the happenings in Mumbai may have a huge impact on this movie, and those releasing in near future. People will be more wary of crowded places, and this may see a much lesser turnout.
It was reported that Aamir Khan was keen to release Ghajini along with RNBDJ, so that the issue of Bollywood ka Baadshah (numero uno of Bollywood, that SRK so often proclaims himself to be, much to the chagrin of AK) can be settled once for all.
Had this been the case, RNBDJ would have suffered much more.
However, that face-off has been averted now, since Ghajini is releasing on Dec. 25.
This may give some breathing time for RNBDJ.
Only time will tell.

Anushka is also from Bangalore (Deepika Padukone’s home town). We remember seeing another Anushka from Bangalore in a Tamil movie called Rendu.
Looks it’s the turn of Bangalore Belles in Bollywood now.
I told you! =D
Review ‘Funny Games’ please, it’s got Naomi Watts in it. It’s a remake of a German flick.

Will do. Might take some time though…we have a long list to work through.
Currently watching Lions for Lambs (Robert Redford, Tom Cruise & Meryl Streep).
America’s unwillingness to correct its mistakes only makes America’s image problems worse. When US refuses to accept that it is even possible for it to be wrong, it goes from being misguided to being childish ass*****
He say “he don’t like” a country. He never said he HATE that country. [Junk Deleted]

What do you think it means…that he loves our country
why have you written
not the Mumbai rag Times of India
why is it a rag? just because its an indian newspaper, its india’s one of the best english newspaper and also around more than 100 years. it’s a great newspaper
SearchIndia.com Responds:
You write above: why have you written
not the Mumbai rag Times of India
The Times of India was an OK paper but has been deteriorating steadily over the last few decades due to inept editors at the top and dumb reporters and copy editors at the bottom.
That said, the Times of India is still much better than other rags like Hindu, Deccan Herald or the Indian Express.
BTW, in the Newseum (a museum on newspapers in Arlington, just outside Washington DC), the Times of India was the only Indian newspaper we remember seeing on the walls.
US has a good record of insulting Muslims and now they have insulted Bollywood ICon also US has to stop doing like this . I hate US .
SearchIndia.com Responds:
When you folks stop slaughtering Muslims in India (in Gujarat and elsewhere), you can lecture us.
In the meantime, please read this: Wonderful News, America Hater Shahrukh Khan Stopped at Newark Airport
Oh man, the stories coming out from the indian blogs are becoming more and more ridiculous.
Here are some quotes i couldnt stop gasping as i read
I laughed at this line: Shahrukh’s Name Matched With The Names In The Terrorist List ?
For once!!!! Something intelligent from Salman: “It is not such a big deal, when we go there we too have to go through the security check. There has been no attacks there since 9/11 because of their stringent security measures. I think it is a good thing (the security).”
Talk about smart ass lines from Farah Khan: “It is shocking that there is not a single Indian working at that US airport and that they don`t know Shah Rukh Khan who is one of the biggest stars of the world. (what was she thinking, some dude is gonna go over to the secuurity and vouch for Shah Rukh and bring over an Om Shanti Om DVD to watch where he’s dancing about with his 6 abs and a bunch of blondies, having water thrown at him and him touching himself???)
Major sucking up, coming from Priyanka’s twitter: Shocking, disturbing n downright disgraceful. Its such behavior that fuels hatred n racism.SRK’s a world figure for Gods sake.GET REAL!! (world figure????????? so the Ethiopians and Timbuktoos know him too?? What is he? God????)
From the King Khan himself: The incident that has left him deeply saddened, Shah Rukh said, “I am devoid; it hurts your self respect. I don’t want to make an ego issue out of it (understatement of the year, i dont want to make an ego issue out of it!)
SearchIndia.com Responds:
SRK is not a world figure.
As we said the other day, if ‘King Khan’ walked down Lexington Ave in Manhattan the only folks to recognize him would be the South Asian cabbies and the desi diners at Curry in a Hurry at intersection of Lexington and 28th St.
