At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Bill Gates announced on Sunday evening that Microsoft had sold 100 million licenses of the company’s Windows Vista operating system to date.
Assuming conservatively that each Windows Vista license is used by just one person, that means Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates has destroyed any hopes of happiness for 100 million poor men and women.
Wow, so much suffering. Great job, Bill.
More than Stalin, Lenin, Hitler, Ivan the Terrible, Genghiz Khan and Narendra Modi, we think Bill Gates has caused the most suffering on the planet with his company Microsoft churning out some of the most mediocre and unusable products.
Several corporations, small and medium-sized businesses and individuals have put off upgrading their Windows operating system because of all the negative reports about Windows Vista.
Unfortunately, since Linux is still not ready for prime time use on the desktop even Lord Balaji cannot save the poor users of Windows PCs.
………..
More than Stalin, Lenin, Hitler, Ivan the Terrible, Genghiz Khan and NARENDRA MODI!!!!
Whats the problem with you guys!! This is exactly called hitting below the belt…..

We are sorry we don’t see your point. Are you saying that Narendra Modi is worse than Stalin, Hitler, Ivan the Terrible and Genghiz Khan?
Really – seems like you need to get a little perspective. Maybe you should try and walk away from your computer and go outside experience real life for a little bit. You might find there is a little joy to be had interacting with real people, nature, the universe. It is sad the same can’t be said for the six million Jews who were gassed to death.

Since Windows is installed on close to a billion PCs, we think Bill Gates has inflicted more suffering on mankind than Hitler, Stalin or Genghiz Khan. The Holocaust is a tragedy that ought never to have happened. Man’s capacity to inflict suffering on his fellow beings is infinite.
Phew, took a lot of time to fish out this post but I think it was worth it.
ON topic 😉 : You maybe right about Linux 😮

Nice. And true.
We’ve been planning for ages to install Linux and play with it.
Took the first step a couple of years back by trying to install a partition on a Windows XP Media Center PC. Something went wrong. And we had to do a system restore and reinstall all the apps. A frigging pain.
But one of these days, we’ll get a PC (maybe during the upcoming thanksgiving deals), wipe out Windows 7 or wateva crap and do a clean Linux install and play with it.
As we’ve said on earlier occasions, Linux on the server is here to stay but Linux on the desktop just ain’t there yet.
Perhaps, one sub-group of Linus Torvalds’ team should focus exclusively on the desktop, stuff like GUI enhancements and expanding the availability of drivers.
I love Windows.
Does Linux have Microsoft Word in it? Can we do copy/cut/paste on it?
Answer those questions and I’ll tell you if Linux is better than Windows.

1. You write above: I love Windows.
Well, love for crap takes different forms.
Some love Windows.
Some love Nayantara.
And some folks even love Kopi Luwak. 😉
2. You write: Does Linux have Microsoft Word in it?
No, but OpenOffice.org should do the job well for most folks. It includes cut, copy and paste.
But if you insist on running Word on a Linux box you can do it via CrossOver Office or CrossOver’s core foundation Wine.
I compared my Vista media center with the media center on Ubuntu.. vista wins majestically.. you don’t need to wipe out windows 7.. nowadays PCs come with tons of space.. you can set it up to dual boot – the ubuntu cd does a fine job – you can download and burn your own copy. windows and linux have their own redeeming qualities.. features-wise.. but price-wise, there is no competition.
dr, watch paranormal activity on a windows pc, maybe you won’t get scared shitless. I remember being scared of horror movies (i used to be scared to look at mirrors after Poltergeist – and I used to have dreams about Exorcist’s green-puke girl).. but that was when I was 10 years old.

Interesting story.
Linux has copy/cut/paste in it? Wow, it should be one advanced operating system then!
BTW, SI, aren’t you ashamed of yourself for harboring ill-will against Nayantara just because she didn’t reply to any of the hundreds of fan-mails that you sent to her (including some written in blood)? Don’t you realize that unlike you she is a busy woman and it would be next to impossible for her to find time to even read your mails, let alone reply?
Shame on you, SI!
(Anyone who has doubts abbout SI’s secret admiration for N, read his review of Kalvanin Kadhali)

Hey, you forgot that bit about how we threatened to slit our wrist, how we promised to leave her a billion $ in our will, how we intend to remake Casablanca with her doing Ingrid Bergman’s part, how we went so berserk over her that we started the SI blog, how we are so pining for her that we went on a bettale seve at Chandra Gutti Jathra, how we are so desperate that we got twin mottais, one on top at Tirumala Hills and one down there at Tirupati. Happy? 😉
@Vetti:”[M]aybe you won’t…”
Why? Smart as I am 😉 , I didn’t get your logic.
@medytrance
Yup. It comes “out of the box” too(gasp)!

Planning to check out Windows 7 since we have a free upgrade offer for one of our PCs. Guess, 3GB RAM should be adequate.

We’re thinking of engaging in some Paranormal Activity this weekend.
