Delhi-based real estate developer DLF has won the contract to develop the prestigious Bidadi Knowledge City project for IT companies coming up near Bangalore, according to the Mint.
A small town on the Bangalore-Mysore highway, Bidadi is the Karnataka’s government’s response to the infrastructure woes bedevilling India’s IT hub Bangalore.
Bidadi Knowledge City is expected to attract investment of Rs 60,000 crore ($15 billion) eventually and be a top destination for IT companies worldwide.
DLF plans to develop the Bidadi project spread over 9,178 acres in partnership with Dubai-based Limitless Holdings in a 50:50 joint venture.
The big question is whether the Karnataka government headed by H.D.Kumaraswamy has the expertise to take a project of this magnitude to fruition. We remain skeptical.
Several Indian and foreign companies had bid for the Bidadi project.
