We’ve been watching Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan movies since the 1970s.
How we loved Amitabh in Deewar (remember that famous dialog “Mere paas car hai, bungalow hai, bank balance hai”) and little Aamir singing in Yaadon Ki Baraat.
And all these years, we thought these were two Bollywood actors.
Shows how little we know.
No. No. They are farmers, first. Yes, tillers of the soil.
At least, that’s what these fellows claim to the authorities in India to explain their farm land purchases. In India only farmers are allowed to own agricultural land.
But the government in India is not buying the actors’ explanations.
Both Amitabh Bachchan and Amir Khan face scrutiny of their land purchase, have to answer tough questions and may even lose their agricultural land unless they can prove that they are indeed farmers.
At least now we know that Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan are “really” farmers, who are dabbling in Bollywood movies.
Now I am beginning to wonder where my pyaaz (onions) and alu (potato) are coming from – Is it from Amitabh’s farm or Aamir’s farm?
