Unless Lord Balaji of Tirupati decides to perform one of his miracle acts, it seems like the end of the road of Indian IT services provider  Satyam Computer Services, at least in its present form.
The Satyam brand is tarnished beyond recovery. The Satyam name is mud today after disclosures of massive fraud at the company for several years.
U.S. companies as well as those in other parts of the world who entrust their IT services work to Satyam are unlikely to farm out contracts to a company that has confessed to committing fraud for several years.
Besides the latest mega-disaster, Satyam has had to battle other damaging reports over the last few quarters: the Upaid forgery case, World Bank contract mess and Maytas acquisition fiasco.
Of course, a massive banyan tree never collapses immediately. It’s going to take a while but Satyam will find it extremely difficult to recover from this self-inflicted disaster.
The big question now is what happens to the 53,000 workers employed at Satyam.
